The promenade has two entrances: the northern entrance, known as the "De Lesseps Statue" which is the base where the statue of the mastermind behind the Suez Canal project once stood before its removal, and the southern entrance near "Misr Square" a plaza featuring the "Mother of the World" statue, symbolizing the history and efforts of Egyptians in digging the Suez Canal. Near the promenade, you can find the Old Port Said Lighthouse, built during the reign of Khedive Ismail in June 1869. This lighthouse is considered the first in the world to be constructed using reinforced concrete, and its construction was overseen by the famous French engineer François Coignet.
You can also enjoy a quick tour along Port Said’s Corniche and Al Jomhuria Street, where you’ll find many shops, restaurants, and cafés. However after two years of sketching and making the models,Barthholdi was told that khedive ismael decided that the project was too expensive and the light to Asia was sent to the new york ,where she became the lady of liberty.
