Jeita Grotto

Jeita Grotto is absolutely breathtaking and a must visit while in Lebanon. There are two separate but interconnected limestone caves. The grotto has beautiful stalactites and stalagmites. The upper caves are explored by foot. but the lower caves took my breath away. The lower caves are explored by boat and the experience was ethereal and magical. For some reason a scene from the musical Phantom of the Opera came to mind.

Photography is not allowed. Individual lockers are provided for the cell phones. There are beautiful sculptures outside on the premises. “ The Guardian of time “ was particularly interesting. You get to the Jeita Grotto by cable car and have a wonderful panoramic view. The cable car gets close to the apartments and you can actually look inside !
