Ras Sedr, a small town on the western coast of the Sinai Peninsula, is famous for its soft sandy beaches, warm waters, and relaxed vibe. Many people from Cairo own vacation homes here. The Gulf of Suez, where Ras Sedr is located, is shallow with sandy bottoms, teeming with marine life, and offers various water sports. Moon Beach is a top spot in Egypt for wind- and kite-surfing. Diving and snorkeling are also popular activities. St Catherine’s Monastery

St Catherine’s Monastery is an old fortress monastery situated in a valley between Jebel Musa and the Jebel al-Dayr in Egypt. The monastery’s church was constructed by Justinian in AD 527 and has a basilical design with large granite columns supporting the main hall. Inside the church, there are valuable treasures like 6th-century mosaics depicting the Transfiguration of Christ, as well as side aisles adorned with ancient and modern icons. In the sanctuary, there is a small alcove that leads to the Chapel of the Burning Bush, where God spoke to Moses from a flaming shrub. The monastery also houses a library of rare manuscripts and a museum with an impressive collection of icons, although these are only accessible to visitors with a letter of introduction. Being the oldest Christian monastery still in use for its original purpose, it was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the early 2000s.

Best Time to visit Sinai

Best Time to visit Sinai
The ideal time to visit Sinai is from November to March when the weather is cooler and more pleasant. Daytime temperatures range from 20-25°C (68-77°F) during this period, with cooler nights. In contrast, the summer months from May to September can be scorching hot, with temperatures exceeding 40°C (104°F). This makes outdoor activities uncomfortable and potentially dangerous. Moreover, summer is peak tourist season, leading to crowded beaches and attractions. For those planning to climb Mount Sinai, it's recommended to do so in the early morning or late afternoon for cooler temperatures and stunning views at sunrise or sunset. Keep in mind that Ramadan is observed in Sinai and Egypt, affecting restaurant hours and activity availability. Be prepared and respectful of local customs during this time.
