Manial Palace and Museum

The Manial Palace Museum, also known as Prince Muhammad Ali Palace, is a unique royal palace in Egypt. It was built in 1901 and is situated on Manil Al-Rawda Island in Cairo. This palace stands out due to its special architectural style, which combines various Islamic art forms such as Fatimid, Mamluk, Ottoman, Andalusian, Persian, and Levantine. It consists of three palaces: the residence palace, the reception palace, and the throne palace.

Additionally, the palace features a mosque, a private museum, a hunting museum, and a clock tower. The exterior of the palace resembles medieval fortress walls, while the interior is surrounded by beautiful gardens that house a rare collection of trees and plants. Currently, the palace serves as a museum.

-Who is Prince Mohammed Ali ?
Prince Muhammad Ali, son of Khedive Tawfiq and brother of Khedive Abbas Hilmi II, owned the palace. He served as Crown Prince three times and was one of three guardians of the throne after King Fouad I's death. Prince Muhammad Ali personally chose the palace's location and supervised its construction, with help from teacher Muhammad Afifi. Before he died, the prince wanted the palace to become a museum.

• Residence Palace :
  It is the main palace and the first building to be constructed. It was the prince’s residence and consists of two floors with a carefully crafted staircase connected between them.

• Throne Palace :
  The palace has two floors. The first floor is known as the Throne Hall, which is a spacious hall adorned with a golden wooden staff. Inside, you can find grand portraits of Egypt's rulers from the Muhammad Ali family, as well as picturesque scenes of Cairo and Giza. This hall was used by the prince to welcome his guests during special occasions like holidays. On the second floor, there are two halls specifically designed for winter sessions.

• The Mosque :
  The mosque was built in the Ottoman style and is considered one of the distinguished architectural and artistic facilities. It consists of two iwans.

• Clock Tower :
  It was built in the style of the Andalusian and Moroccan towers that were used for surveillance and sending messages using fire at night and smoke during the day, and a large clock was attached to it. Written on the tower in Kufic script.

• Hunting Museum :
  The museum was added to the palace in 1963, and displays 1,180 pieces of animals, birds and mummified butterflies from the hunting belongings of King Farouk, Prince Muhammad Ali and Prince Youssef Kamal, in addition to the skeletons of camels and horses on which the livery of the Kaab were placed during the bearing journey and the livery travel from Egypt to the land of Hejaz, skulls, horns, hides and hunting tools, antiques and paintings.

• The garden :
  It has an area of ??34,000 square meters and includes a rare collection of trees and plants collected by Prince Muhammad Ali from around the world, including a collection of cactus, Indian fig trees, and types of palms such as the royal palm with white trunks, bamboo trees, and others.
