Sergius and Bacchus

-Who are Sergius and Bacchus?
Sergius and Bacchus were Christian soldiers from Syria in the fourth century. They are highly respected as martyrs and military saints by the Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, and Oriental Orthodox Churches. The day dedicated to their memory is celebrated on 7 October.

Sergius and Bacchus were soldiers in the army of Roman Emperor Galerius. They enjoyed a good reputation until it was discovered that they were secretly Christians. As a result, they faced humiliation and punishment. They were made to wear clothes that were associated with women and common people. Bacchus died during the torture inflicted on his feet, while Sergius was eventually beheaded. Sergius and Bacchus were very popular throughout Late Antiquity for their fraternal and pious relationship, and churches in their honor were built in several cities.
