Kom Oshim is situated north of Qarun Lake, 70 kilometers from Cairo, and 33 kilometers from El Fayoum, a Greek-Roman town in the western desert of Egypt that was constructed by the Ptolemies in the third century BC.Kom Oshim, the greatest Greco-Roman city near El Fayoum, was known by its old name, Karanis. It underwent numerous transformations and was completely populated for almost seven centuries.In addition to a Roman bath and two temples honoring the crocodile gods, the city's ruins now house a museum with an intriguing collection of glassware, jewelry, and ceramics found on the site.
Karanis Museum: This tiny museum showcases the architecture of the Ptolemaic Roman Empire and has a vast collection of items found in the city, including jewelry, ornaments, glassware, and pottery. It also has two of the most well-known Fayoum portraits, which were painted on wood to hide the mummy's face.
The northern temple is dedicated to the Roman Bath and dates to the first century. It features two modest entrance pylons and is completely uninscribed.

The Museum of Kom Aushim is located in the Fayoum Governorate of Egypt. It is an archaeological museum dedicated to the history and heritage of the ancient city of Kom Aushim, which was an important center during the Greco-Roman period. This museum showcases many ancient artifacts, including pottery, statues, and inscriptions from the time of the Ptolemies and Romans.


The Museum of Kom Oshim
The Museum of Kom Oshim is located at the entrance of the Greaco-Roman town, Karanis. The museum was built in 1974 in an area of 280 * 160 m then it was expanded with 850 * 350 m by the supreme council of Antiquities. It was opened recently as part of the Antiquities ministry’s plan to develop and re-open museums that had closed, with a view to promoting domestic and international tourism.
